Floodplain Management

Steve Darmofal is also one of the leading experts on floodplains in Ohio.  He has helped obtain Letters of Map Revision and Letters of Map Amendment to remove over 600 new lots and existing structures from the 100-year floodplain.  Steve is experienced in working with HEC-RAS for hydraulic modeling of streams, channel flow analysis, and evaluation of floodway encroachments.  He has extensive experience in coordinating design and field work to comply with both federal requirements and local ordinances.  His expertise is essential in working with developers, homeowners, reviewing agencies, and FEMA to obtain approvals and to ensure projects are in compliance with the regulations.


Steve also shares his knowledge on the topic in a way that is easy for people to understand.  He has taught a dozen continuing education courses for real estate agents in Ohio.  These include courses for the Toledo Board of Realtors, Dayton Board of Realtors, Cleveland Board of Realtors, and several realtor brokerage firms.   Steve graduated from the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and also has a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Toledo.
